Lead the Way. As an SSI Divemaster, you become an essential part of any dive center. You’ll learn to lead guided tours, assist instructors with classes, and master the technical knowledge required to keep every dive safe and professional.

What You’ll Master:

• Expert Navigation: Perfect your ability to lead groups through complex underwater terrain.

• Professionalism: Learn the "behind the scenes" of dive center operations and logistics.

• Demonstration-Quality Skills: Refine your basic skills to a level where you can demonstrate them to students.

• Dive Science: Deepen your understanding of physics, physiology, and the marine environment.

 

Course Prerequisites

The Divemaster rating is a professional-level qualification, and the requirements reflect that responsibility:

• Certification: Must be an SSI Science of Diving and SSI Guide specialty holder (or equivalent).

• Experience: A minimum of 40 logged dives to start the program, and 60 logged dives to be officially certified.

• Advanced Training: Must have SSI Stress & Rescue (or equivalent) certification.

• First Aid: Valid React Right (CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Provider) within the last 24 months.

• Age: Minimum of 18 years old.

• Medical Fitness: A medical professional's signature on the SSI Medical Statement (mandatory for all pro-level candidates).
